In exchange, the Cardinals sent right-handed pitcher John Gant and a minor-leaguer to the Twins and outfielder Lane Thomas to the Nationals.

The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired Jose Berrios from the Minnesota Twins, according to a source.

The Twins will receive the Blue Jays' No. 2-ranked prospect, per MLB Pipeline, Austin Martin and right-hander Simeon Woods-Richardson, who is ranked fourth.

Berrios, 27, is under team control through 2022 as an arbitration-eligible player.

The San Diego Padres are finalizing a deal to acquire right-handed reliever Daniel Hudson from the Washington Nationals, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan.

Hudson is currently on the COVID-19 injured list. He's 4-1 with a 2.20 ERA in 31 appearances this season.

The American League East-leading Boston Red Sox acquired All-Star outfielder Kyle Schwarber from the Washington Nationals on Thursday, it was announced.

Schwarber, 28, is on the injured list with a right hamstring strain but is expected to be back within a week or so.

The Seattle Mariners have acquired reliever Diego Castillo from the Tampa Bay Rays.

Tampa Bay will receive reliever J.T. Chargois and a Minor League infielder Austin Shenton.

The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired infielder Eduardo Escobar in a deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Escobar, 32, made his first All-Star Game this season. He hit 22 home runs for the Diamondbacks.

He can play any infield position, and is likely to see time at third and first base.

The Houston Astros have agreed to a trade with the Miami Marlins to acquire reliever Yimi Garcia.

In exchange for Garcia, the Astros sent outfielder Bryan De La Cruz and right-hander Austin Pruitt to the Marlins.

Garcia, 30, has 15 saves for the Marlins this season and is 3-7 with a 3.47 ERA.
